You will be invited into Yasmin’s kitchen to learn from Yasmin herself how to cook the food she grew up with.  Demonstrations may play a part but the cookery school experience is truly hands on.

Courses run every Thursday during Scottish school terms only. 

Chicken Courses

Full day

You will experience a spice workshop, cook six recipes and enjoy the main dishes over an informal lunch before heading back into the kitchen for more cooking. You’ll prepare chicken two ways. Firstly, classic chicken curry made with a masala sauce and traditional spices. Then you’ll marinate chicken to produce a baked dish packed with flavour. A complimentary dish of carrot and cumin sits perfectly alongside a quick and spicy tamarind sauce. Dessert is phirni, a delicately flavoured Punjabi rice pudding and you’ll finish by making a fresh and spicy fruit chaat, a fruit salad flavoured with classic chaat masala - a true Punjabi favourite.

 

Half day

You will experience a spice workshop, cook a classic chicken curry, a complimentary dish of carrot and cumin and a refreshing raita accompaniment.

Lamb Courses

Full day

You will experience a spice workshop, cook six recipes and enjoy the main dishes over an informal lunch before heading back into the kitchen for more cooking.You’ll learn how to cook an aromatic lamb curry based on a traditional masala - thick, flavoursome and rich with spices. You will also make tasty lamb kebabs and a complimentary dish of potatoes cooked with   selected spices. A fresh and vibrant mint and coriander chutney provides the perfect complement. Dessert is zarda, a sweet rice dish flavoured with saffron, cinnamon and cardamom. You will finish by making lassi, a tasty and refreshing yogurt drink.

You will experience a spice workshop, cook an aromatic lamb curry, a complimentary dish of potatoes cooked with carefully selected spices and a refreshing raita accompaniment.

Vegetarian Courses

Full day

You will experience a spice workshop, cook six recipes and enjoy the main dishes over an informal lunch before heading back into the kitchen for more cooking. You’ll use aubergines to create a classic and flavoursome vegetable curry then prepare green lentils to produce a fragrant dhal topped with a crispy ginger garnish.  A complimentary dish is spicy aloo tikki made with potato and egg and all accompanied by a lively tomato raita. Dessert is carrot halwa, very traditional and extremely delicious. You will finish by making lassi, a tasty and refreshing yogurt drink.

 

Half day
You will experience a spice workshop, cook a classic and flavoursome aubergine curry, a complimentary dish of fragrant dhal topped with a crispy ginger garnish and a refreshing raita accompaniment.

Fish Courses (a supplement will apply to all fish courses)

Full day

You will experience a spice workshop, cook six recipes and enjoy the main dishes over an informal lunch before heading back into the kitchen for more cooking. You will prepare halibut in an onion and tomato-based masala spiced with traditional Punjabi flavours, as well as succulent tandoori salmon. Accompaniments will include a classic red lentil dhal and a cucumber raita. Traditional ice cream, kulfi, makes a truly special dessert. You will finish by making lassi, a tasty and refreshing yogurt drink.

 

Half day

You will experience a spice workshop, prepare halibut in an onion and tomato-based masala spiced with traditional Punjabi flavours, a complimentary dish of a classic red lentil dhal and a refreshing raita accompaniment.
